Escaping Time: Art from U.S. Prisons exhibits and sells artworks created within prison walls nationwide. Through art, Escaping Time works to bring awareness to the people and issues that exist within the carceral system, change the narrative, and break the stereotype of what society imagines when thinking about the incarcerated.

Their 2025 season on Governors Island will include an exhibition of paintings and sculptures, along with a prison art workshop, panel discussions, and a documentary viewing as they explore the theme of The Ripple Effect” and the ways in which the carceral system impacts far more than the person who is incarcerated.
