At the root of every com­plex design won­der is a mod­u­lar sit­u­a­tion. This is the mag­ic that explains the endurance of mod­u­lar intel­li­gence. The dual dares of envi­ron­men­tal cat­a­stro­phe and dark dig­i­tal futures increased the need for cus­tomiza­tion which, in turn, depends on break­throughs in mod­u­lar design as a means of recal­i­brat­ing net­works in an expe­di­ent and cost-effec­tive man­ner. This exhi­bi­tion explores the sto­ry of mod­u­lar design intel­li­gence from his­tor­i­cal cas­es, con­cept dia­grams, inter­views with indus­try experts, and stu­dent work from an advanced grad­u­ate stu­dio ded­i­cat­ed to detail phys­i­cal exper­i­ments with new mate­ri­als and new assem­bly meth­ods address­ing spe­cif­ic ways to pro­pel mod­u­lar intel­li­gence forward.
