DATE CHANGE: Due to forecasted rain, August’s Light Trapping event has been rescheduled to August 13. If you’ve already registered on Eventbrite, your registration automatically carries over to the rain date. Please cancel your reservation if you can no longer attend.

Join the Governors Island Nature program for a special nighttime community science activity contributing to the ecological knowledge of the Island!

Light trapping is an effective way to learn about and identify insects that are not as active during the day. By using ultraviolet light in a non-lit area, we will be able to attract night-flying insects, including moths and beetles, to a lightweight sheet, where we can observe specimens and collect data using the iNaturalist app.

This event is presented by the Trust for Governors Island and CCNY Insect Ecologists Jhunior Morillo and Dr. Amy Berkov.
