Come get your hands dirty at our free Clay Crit­ters Seed­bomb Work­shop! Join Lon­don-based sculp­tor Jo Pearl at Swale House on Gov­er­nors Island craft­ing soil microbe-inspired clay crit­ter seed­bombs using native seed species, clay and Gov­er­nors Island com­post. This in-per­son event is per­fect for all ages and no pri­or expe­ri­ence is need­ed. Let your cre­ativ­i­ty flow and take home your own hand­made seed­bomb to plant and watch grow!

Jo Pearl is a mul­ti-dis­ci­pli­nary artist work­ing pri­mar­i­ly in clay, who dur­ing the week before the work­shop, will have exper­i­ment­ing and mak­ing new work as artist in res­i­dence at Swale Lab — part of the Urban Soil Insi­tute at Swale House. Vis­i­tors are also invit­ed to pop inside to check out this new work-in-progress, plus a cap­sule pre­sen­ta­tion of her Unearthed series of work, includ­ing its short clay stopframe ani­ma­tion. Unearthed explores the awe-inspir­ing abun­dance of life that lies beneath our feet, over­turn­ing notions of dirt’, the work instead enchants with its diver­si­ty and playfulness.
