Clay Critters Seedbomb Workshop
Swale
Oct 26, 2024
Nolan Park - Nolan Park - Building 11
Come get your hands dirty at our free Clay Critters Seedbomb Workshop! Join London-based sculptor Jo Pearl at Swale House on Governors Island crafting soil microbe-inspired clay critter seedbombs using native seed species, clay and Governors Island compost. This in-person event is perfect for all ages and no prior experience is needed. Let your creativity flow and take home your own handmade seedbomb to plant and watch grow!
Jo Pearl is a multi-disciplinary artist working primarily in clay, who during the week before the workshop, will have experimenting and making new work as artist in residence at Swale Lab — part of the Urban Soil Insitute at Swale House. Visitors are also invited to pop inside to check out this new work-in-progress, plus a capsule presentation of her Unearthed series of work, including its short clay stopframe animation. Unearthed explores the awe-inspiring abundance of life that lies beneath our feet, overturning notions of ‘dirt’, the work instead enchants with its diversity and playfulness.
Swale is one of the 2024 Governors Island Arts Organizations in Residence
