NYC Bird Alliance
Jul 14, 2024
Colonels Row - Colonels Row - Building 405B
Join NYC Bird Alliance (formerly NYC Audubon) Artist in Resident Kiera Bono for a public movement workshop and shared outdoor meal on Governors Island. “Bird bones/Sparrow songs: Birds, Disability, and Movement” explores the relationships between birds, conservation, Disability Justice, access work, and disability aesthetics.
Workshop facilitators will be bringing some gluten-free, vegetarian food/snacks for participants to eat throughout the workshop/dinner, and participants are welcome to bring their own food/snacks as well (like a potluck-style gathering). Fellow chronically ill and/or disabled folks are especially welcome to join! Movement/dance experience not required to participate in the workshop.
The workshop will take place on Governors Island on a flat patch of grass in front of NYC Bird Alliance’s seasonal environmental center at Colonels Row House 405B. Registration encouraged, but not required. Free.
NYC Bird Alliance is one of the 2024 Governors Island Arts Organizations in Residence.
