2nd Annual New York Harbor Oyster Classic 5K
Grab your running shoes, hop on the ferry, and enjoy an early morning run on Governors Island before it opens to the public for the day!
Nestled between Lower Manhattan and the Brooklyn waterfront, Governors Island is only an eight minute ferry ride but a world awayfrom the hustle and bustle of city life. NYHOC5K participants will take in the sweeping views of New York Harbor, featuring the lower Manhattan skyline, the Statue of Liberty, and the Brooklyn Bridge, while passing the dozens of historic buildings, art installations and inviting green lawns.
After the race, you are welcome to stay for the day and explore all that Governors Island has to offer.
All proceeds support the Urban Assembly New York Harbor School and its programs.
The ferry will depart the Governors Island Ferry Terminal/Battery Maritime Building, 10 South Street, NY, NY (adjacent to the Staten Island Ferry Terminal) at 8 AM sharp. Runners MUST be on this ferry.
Runners will need their Oyster Classic bib to get aboard, and all spectators will need their NYHOC ‘18 bracelets. The race will start at 9 AM.
On the island, just off the ferry, you’ll find directions to the NY Harbor School, which is the site of the start/finish. Bag check and toilets will be available in the same area.
Water tables with cups will be available at the start and the finish areas. Bring a water bottle with you to fill up at the island’s water filling stations along the course. We’ll meet you and your spectators at the finish line with bagels and fresh fruit.
The Oyster Classic 5K is rain or shine.
