Governors Island is home to diverse and exciting tenant organizations that operate on the Island year-round. Together, they comprise a community of hundreds of employees and students who commute to the Island daily.
The New York Assembly Harbor School, now in its 10th year on the Island, occupies two restored, historic buildings and offers a unique maritime education program for high school-aged students. Its curriculum focuses on hands-on training and takes full advantage of the Harbor School’s unique setting in the middle of New York Harbor.
The Lower Manhattan Cultural Council’s new Arts Center at Governors Island, which opened in September 2019, offers year-round studio space to nineteen Artists-in-Residence as well as large galleries and performance spaces filled with exhibitions, workshops, talks and more during the public access season.
Commercial tenancy comes to Governors Island with the destination day spa, QC Terme, projected to open in 2021. This one-of-a-kind venue will offer rest, relaxation, rejuvenation and opportunities for its guests to enjoy the Island.
