Ornamental Flower Gardens

Each year, the Trust’s horticulture team plants thousands of bulbs throughout the historic North Island for spectacular spring displays. In the summer, these gardens are bursting with color from 50+ native plants and their cultivars. The fall brings beautiful foliage from both trees and shrubs, as well the flowers of native asters, goldenrods, and warm season grasses. These gardens are designed to include a plethora of native plants to support local birds and pollinators and are each a unique example of intentionally selecting plants based on the specificities of their ecosystem needs.

In Nolan Park and Colonels Row, we have several shade gardens where you can see the kinds of plants that thrive in both dry and damp shady areas. Visit Liggett Terrace to see what kind of plants can survive in a hot, dry environment with minimal watering.
