The Hills Are Alive!

The Hills on Governors Island are officially open to the public! The Trust for Governors Island celebrated of the Hills opening day with a public ribbon cutting ceremony on July 19 attended by Deputy Mayor for Housing and Economic Development Alicia Glen, former Mayor Michael Bloomberg, elected officials, community leaders and members of the public.

Over 4,000 visitors joined to explore the Hills for the very first time, exploring the art and nature on Discovery Hill, testing out the longest slide in NYC on Slide Hill, lounging on Grassy Hill and experiencing the unparalleled view of the harbor and Statue of Liberty on Outlook Hill. We even celebrated with plenty of complimentary ice cream!
