Stay safe in the heat this weekend on GI
Jul 19, 2019 11:17 am
With an excessive heat advisory in effect this weekend, we encourage you to take precautions to stay cool and hydrated when visiting Governors Island.
Make sure to bring plenty of water with you and to refill your bottles regularly. You can find our water stations throughout the Island — locate them on our visitor map.
Stay cool in the shade! There are plenty of shaded areas to relax in on Colonels Row and in Nolan Park. You can also find large sun umbrellas in Liggett Terrace as well as a water feature that can keep kids cool while they enjoy a splash.
If you’re not feeling well, need to cool down or in case of emergency, head to our first aid station at Soissons Landing. You can also contact Island security at 212−809−3299.
Please note that due to the heat, program hours and events may be changed or canceled.
