“Hot Chicks” Celebrate Their New Hoop House at the Compost Learning Center

- Earth Matter has been hard at work building a new house for the chickens at the compost learning center.
For the past two years, many Governors Island visitors have enjoyed stopping by the Earth Matter Compost Center at Picnic Point for free workshops about composting and the environment.
The Compost Learning Center has more happening than ever before with the addition of more than 50 of the Island’s newest “workers.” Chickens have joined the center and this weekend, they are celebrating the opening of their new hoop house at Picnic Point.
The Learning Center is also the new home of the “Hot Chicks Room” sign that used to hang in an East Village club but was donated to Earth Matter. The sign will be hoisted this weekend.
