#HillsGI Photo Contest

Calling all photographers, Instagram-aficionados, and public space enthusiasts, Governors Island is running a photo contest! On July 19th, we celebrate the opening of The Hills, our newest landscapes. 10 years in the making, The Hills include four peaks, each with unique features. You can ride New York City’s tallest slide on Slide Hill, enjoyCabin on Discovery Hill, or kick back and relax on Grassy Hill. The Hills have so much to offer and we want to see your views! Come out and be one of the first to ever photograph these magnificent additions to the Island.

The Hills open on July 19th but don’t worry if you can’t make it that day. The very next day, July 20th, the Island will be open from sunrise to sunset. Come early or stay late to enjoy extraordinary sunrise and sunset views of the Statue of Liberty, the boats and bridges of the Harbor and the Manhattan, Brooklyn and Jersey skylines. There is no better place in New York City to experience Sunrise and Sunset as you can from the Governors Island Hills. Weekday ferries will be free to all from July 20-22.
