Citi Bike Comes to Gov­er­nors Island!

We are thrilled to announce that there is now yet anoth­er way to enjoy Gov­er­nors Island by bike – Citi Bike has arrived on Gov­er­nors Island!

In response to vis­i­tor requests, The Trust for Gov­er­nors Island and the Gov­er­nors Island Alliance worked with Citi Bike to expand to Gov­er­nors Island. We are so pleased to now be a part of it. 

Citi Bike is the City’s bike shar­ing sys­tem. It con­sists of a fleet of spe­cial­ly designed bikes that are locked into a net­work of dock­ing sta­tions sit­ed around Man­hat­tan, Brook­lyn and Queens. The bikes can be rent­ed from and then returned to any sta­tion in the system.

Vis­i­tors can bring a Citi Bike over with them on the fer­ry or pick up one from dock­ing sta­tions locat­ed at Sois­sons Land­ing (right out­side of Build­ing 110) or at Yan­kee Pier. Vis­i­tors can of course still bring their own bikes to the Island as well, or rent bikes from Blaz­ing Sad­dles, our bike con­ces­sion locat­ed in Colonels Row. 

Gov­er­nors Island is an oasis for bik­ing and a great place to try out Citi Bike in a car-free envi­ron­ment if you haven’t had a chance to jump on one yet. We are so pleased that vis­i­tors will now have more options for enjoy­ing our miles of bike paths.
