Brooklyn Bridge Park: transforming the waterfront across from Governors Island
Dec 18, 2009 6:25 pm
Today’s Daily News features a beautiful three page spread on Brooklyn Bridge Park, which sits right across the water from Governors Island. The article tracks the transformation of this great new public space along the Brooklyn waterfront. The first section of the park , Pier 1, will open this winter, and parts of Pier 6 are scheduled to open in the spring. This past July, we joined the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey and Brooklyn Bridge Park to announce a new water taxi landing at Pier 6, which would connect Governors Island to Brooklyn Bridge Park via boat. The landing will be in place by next summer, allowing visitors to travel between these two incredible green spaces in a mere three minutes. The new landing will help us increase connectivity between the Island and Brooklyn. Many Brooklyn residents will be able to enjoy Brooklyn Bridge Park in a few short months and Governors Island will re-open to visitors in June. We look forward to welcoming visitors to Governors Island directly from Brooklyn Bridge Park. [caption id=“attachment_
