Governors Island is a 172 acre island in the heart of New York Harbor. It’s only 800 yards from Lower Manhattan, and even closer to Brooklyn. It is a world unto itself, unique and full of promise.

The Trust for Governors Island recently announced the inaugural Climate Solutions Challenge winners–six NYC-based innovators that will pilot water-based climate solutions on Governors Island beginning in summer 2024. Winners include early-stage startups, small businesses, and nonprofits working on living shorelines, greywater treatment, water quality monitoring, and ocean agriculture.
