Escape in New York Outdoor Films: Escape from New York
ESCAPE FROM NEW YORK (John Carpenter, 1981, 99m), with THE ROAD TO MAGNASANTI (John Wilson, 2017, 15m)
Our first screening of Escape in New York: Outdoor Films on Governors Island kicks off June 8 with cult classic Escape from New York. In partnership with the Film Society of Lincoln Center, the series is inspired by the city we all call home, and those iconic skyline views seen from the harbor.
Starting at 7PM, enjoy pre-screening music by Theodore Jahng with a NYC beer garden by the big screen featuring local breweries, Threes Brewing and Six Point, as well as delicious eats by Red Hook Lobster Pound, Monk’s Meats, Gorilla Cheese, and Blue Marble.
The feature film begins at dusk and is free and open to the public. The Parade Ground is a large grassy field, so bring a blanket or something to sit on!
Ferries during outdoor film nights will depart Lower Manhattan at 4:45, 5:30, 6:30, 7, 7:30, 8 and 8:30 PM. Ferries will return to Lower Manhattan from Soissons Landing at 8:30, 9, 9:30, 10, 10:30, 10:45 and 11:00PM.
