Cel­e­brate the Fourth on Gov­er­nors Island

Look­ing for some­thing to do this Inde­pen­dence Day? Head out to Gov­er­nors Island this 4th of July week­end and take advan­tage of the excit­ing events and of course our extra­or­di­nary views of the Stat­ue of Lib­er­ty. The Island will be open on the 4th of July from 10 AM- 7 PM as usu­al, how­ev­er it is not open for fire­works view­ing. On the 3rd of July, the Island is open from 10 AM to 6 PM

On Sat­ur­day, the New-York His­tor­i­cal Soci­ety opens its exhib­it Rev­o­lu­tion: Inde­pen­dence And NYC.” The exhib­it explores var­i­ous themes from the Amer­i­can Rev­o­lu­tion in NYC and coin­cides with the arrival of the exact repli­ca of Gen­er­al Lafayette’s ship, the Her­moine, in NY Har­bor. And of course the Nation­al Park Ser­vice will pro­vide inter­pre­tive pro­grams all week­end at Fort Jay and Cas­tle Williams. 

Also on Sat­ur­day the 4th, the Brook­lyn Artery is hav­ing a Block Print­mak­ing work­shop and vis­i­tors can enjoy the Chil­dren’s Muse­um of the Arts Free Island Out­post, exhibits through­out Nolan Park, mini golf, ham­mocks and the Urban Farm. 

Look­ing for a place to have your pic­nic? Gov­er­nors Island can be that place! There is plen­ty of food on the island and you can also bring your own. So pack up your July 4th treats and get ready for a great week­end on Gov­er­nors Island!
