The Island will be open on the 4th of July from 10 AM- 7 PM as usual, however it is not open for fireworks viewing. On the 3rd of July, the Island is open from 10 AM to 6 PM.
On Saturday, the New-York Historical Society opens its exhibit “Revolution: Independence And NYC.” The exhibit explores various themes from the American Revolution in NYC and coincides with the arrival of the exact replica of General Lafayette’s ship, the Hermoine, in NY Harbor. And of course the National Park Service will provide interpretive programs all weekend at Fort Jay and Castle Williams.
Also on Saturday the 4th, the Brooklyn Artery is having a Block Printmaking workshop and visitors can enjoy the Children’s Museum of the Arts Free Island Outpost, exhibits throughout Nolan Park, mini golf, hammocks and the Urban Farm.
